About Pan in the Bag Project

The Pan in Bag / EL Sartén en la Cartera is a project that responses to Georgia’s New Gun Law. One system that is affected by the new law is MARTA (Metro Atlanta Regional Transit Authority). Some users may feel threatened. This is a proposal for people to feel safer by using a Pan in the Bag.

In order to attract more readers, fashion magazines pages were used as the front and the back covers of the book. The fashion magazine’s sheets were selected depending of the color and the women that they feature, most of them were beautiful – “hot”- celebrities and models with purses.

This project was distributed on MARTA: all trains lines, bus chairs, bus schedule stands, news papers boxes, the lobby of the Art Center Towers (a building in front the Art Center Station) as well as the shuttles buses that goes to Atlantic Station. The total of Pan In The Bag activity books that have had distributed is 100.

STEP 1
THINK

Most people can’t afford buying a bulletproof vest. What can they use from their houses to feel protected?

This book must have more than information for reader...

This book can be used as a coloring book. / Este libro puede ser usado para colorear.

Using the knowledge that movies and TV offer, characters survive when some body shoots them if they have some metal object on their chest.Therefore, a possible way to be safe on MARTA can be using a Pan in the Bag or in the purse, and hold it over the chest. This project works as the mothers and grandmother’s home made medicine that some times are placebos.

PRINT AND COVER.

After print the activity books, it was time to work on the covers.

STEP 3
DISTRIBUTION

The Pan in the Bag was created from a specific place Marta.

Choosing the place is a careful task.



I have anxiety doing this. I am worried about getting in trouble while distributing the activity book. Nevertheless, with the help of colleagues this project has been distributed on Marta: trains, north-south – south-north lines, bus chairs, bus schedule stands, news papers boxes, the lobby of the Art Center Towers, shuttles buses that goes to Atlantic Station.
